Modern + Industrial Charbar Restaurant Wedding: Ginny + Jack
I could not have been more excited to celebrate with Ginny + Jack at their fall wedding at Charbar.
I’ve been eyeing up this venue since I first started photographing weddings, so I was absolutely PUMPED when Ginny + Jack told me this was the venue they had chosen. I absolutely love the industrial feel of this venue, with its brick and wood beams, and the big windows that brought in the prettiest natural light.
We started the morning with their first look outside their hotel, and then hit up two of my favourite portrait locations. To stay in line with their industrial/urban feel of their wedding, I suggested we hit up the Platform 9 parkade. I know utilizing a parkade for wedding photos sounds strange, however, this isn’t just any parkade - the top floor gives incredible views of downtown and I love getting play around with with the unique architecture, lines, and textures. Afterwards, we hit up Rotary Park which offers a different view of Calgary’s skyline, while also offering a natural park setting to give them variety. Smoke from the BC wildfires gave us soft, pretty light which was an absolute dream to work with. Despite the heat, these two absolutely crushed their portraits all while looking absolutely stunning (myself on the other hand was a real sweaty mess).
Their ceremony was short + sweet, and then it was time to celebrate. After the most incredible meal (the s’more jar for dessert was *chefs kiss*), it was time to hit the dance floor. Their DJs (Split Circuit Sound) had no problem getting everyone on the dance floor - I could’ve watched people attempt the limbo all night long. Overall, it was SUCH a fun, easygoing day and I was so grateful to have been part of it.
