Salt Spring Island Wedding: Kaela + Braden

It took a plane, a ferry, and a car to get to this wedding, and man was it ever worth it.

Kaela + Braden chose to have their wedding out on Salt Spring Island on Braden's grandmother's farm. Not only did the farm play a significant role to Braden growing up, but was absolutely stunning and made for the perfect venue for their wedding. Their ceremony was down by the lake where friends and family had all travelled to see them say their I do's. My favourite part had to have been when their each of their grandmothers blessed Kaela + Braden's rings as they brought them up.

Immediately following their ceremony, Kaela + Braden decided to do the most Canadian thing possible and jumped in a canoe for a ride (which they found out later would be gifted to them - the sweetest!).

Their photos took place at their friends' home up on the mountain, providing the most spectacular views (even despite the smoke from the forest fires). Just like their engagement session Kaela and Braden would not stop smiling and giggling during their photos. I don't know exactly what Braden kept telling Kaela that made her laugh so hard, but I think that's probably for the best...

Their reception took place at the farm in the backyard, and the combination of a rap-speech, a shoe game that included the parents, and a family hug after their first dance all as the sun set behind the mountain made it one of my favourite receptions to date. You could tell they were so deeply loved by their friends and family that were there to celebrate with them, as throughout the night their guests got up to share stories about Kaela + Braden, their families, and those who were there in spirit.

Kaela + Braden, I hope your wedding was everything you dreamed it would be. I cannot thank you both enough for allowing Eric and I to be part of your very special day. I have loved getting to know each of you over the past year and cannot wait to follow your journey together!
