Winter Wedding at the Calgary Zoo: Mike + Viola
As is tradition with Chinese culture, the morning started with Mike going through a series of challenges to demonstrate his love for his bride Viola. With help from his groomsmen, Mike successfully conquered each of the challenges and was able to meet his bride (the black and white photo where they meet just might be my favourite photo from the day).
Mike and Viola then performed two tea ceremonies, one for each side of the family. This was my first time photographing a tea ceremony and I loved getting to witness Mike and Viola pay their respects to their parents and elders and thank them for their years of love and support.
Their wedding was held at the Calgary Zoo, and after a long, cold winter I couldn’t have been more excited to have access to the conservatory to take photos in afterwards (remember what the colour green is??). Their ceremony was short and sweet, and their reception was full of beautiful speeches, a sweet serenade, and a (possibly rigged) drawing competition. Overall, it was such a fun day and I was so happy to be part of it!
Mike and Viola, thank you for trusting me to capture your very special day! I wish the two of you all the best in your marriage together!
